Vatsim - Multi microphone sound issue

Post by michael1508 »

Hi all,

I am having an issue with vPilot voice transmitting.

In JL FMGS I have configured 2 headsets - one for CPT, one for F/O side.

When I select one of the headsets in vPilot as microphone, the sound is ok. But when I select my virtual audio cable to be able to use both headsets, ATC reports that they are hearing me double.

I tested the virtual audio cable with the Windows Recorder and here both microphone inputs sound fine.

Anyone with an idea, why my voice could be heard double?

Thanks!
Regards
Michael

got it solved!

These are my settings now, for anyone interested:
a) in Windows for all headsets and mics under device settings/listening deactivate "use as playback-device"
b) deactivate "use as playback-device" also for the virtual audio cable
c) in Windows, Intercom and vpilot standard select virtual audio cable A/B for In/Output, as usual

Pretty simple actually - not sure, how I messed it up.

I was too optimistic.... issue still exists.

After I got it working and now again having the issues without any changes made in the mean time, I am afraid this is something within Windows. Also last time before getting it to work I was sure, I have had these settings before.

So here are screenshots of my settings for the microphones and for the virtual cable. It would be great if someone can confirm, that this is correct.
The screenshots are in German, but I guess you figure out the settings.
- headset mic https://1drv.ms/i/s!AgHNDghXDl6ugvFTtjn ... Q?e=oU6W9y
- headset mic - enhanced https://1drv.ms/i/s!AgHNDghXDl6ugvFUUMt ... A?e=ShgeDb
- Virtual Cable https://1drv.ms/i/s!AgHNDghXDl6ugvFRQ3T ... A?e=oNAIMl
- Virtual Cable - enhanced https://1drv.ms/i/s!AgHNDghXDl6ugvFSyqd ... A?e=rXaE1B

In the Intercom the mics are assigned to CPT and FO and for Input (loudspeaker) I have selected Cable A and for output (mics) Cable B. Accordingly in vPilot. That should be alright, as it is basically working. Only the quality is the problem.

Thanks!
Regards
Michael

Dieter is using VoxATC, not Vatsim/vPilot.

But anyhow I am already in contact with him. thanks.

I got it back working!

I missed one tiny adjustment, following my own advise from above:
a) in Windows for all headsets and mics under device settings/listening deactivate "use as playback-device"
b) deactivate "use as playback-device" also for the virtual audio cable
c) in Windows, Intercom and vpilot standard select virtual audio cable A/B for In/Output, as usual
While the setting "use as playback-device" remains deactivated, the output device for the microphones still need to be set to the virtual audio cable for the outbound communication. For the virutal audio cable itself, the output device remains on "standard".

I will now add this to my documentation to not stumble upon it again in the future :-)
Regards
Michael
