Not connected to FMGS server

Post by kholt »

Just installed Jeehell today. I set the installer to install the ‘Master P3D PC’ component as well as under ‘Main Application’ the ‘FMGS Server and AP/FBW’.

When I launch using the Sarter.exe, I get a ton of windows that appear, some of which such as the FBW window say ‘Not connected to FMGS server’.

I see nothing in the documentation about starting an FMGS server separately from the Starter, and no options anywhere to connect to one.

In the Windows task manager I do see a process running named ‘FMGS_Server.exe’ an
d something under it named ‘A320 JeeHell Ware Server’.

Everything is installed on one PC, so this should be an easy thing to make work I would imagine, but the documentation says nothing about it. What am I missing?

hello kholt
Did you then start p3d?
I think that only when this is running will the fmgs server be connected

Thanks, that was it. Now I have another issue as I’m not sure which aircraft I am supposed to load when I start P3D. There isn’t anything in the vehicle list to select that is related. I choose the default F-35 and that did result in the modules connecting to the FMGS server, but I’m guessing its going to fly with a little more enthusiasm than an Airbus!

Yeah, that option doesn’t exist. Something must have gone wrong with the install. I guess I need to try it again.

Go in your C:\Users\Your_User\Documents\Prepar3D vx Add-ons\A320FMGS and check the content of add-on.xml.
Also make sure you did not disable jeehell FMGS addon in P3D (P3D menu bar -> options- addons -> jeehell FMGS -> check it is checked)

So, I get the same behavior with version 6.1 of P3D. There is no add-on installed in the <User>\Documents\Prepar3D v6 Add-ons folder or in the equivalent for v5.

It does obviously install into C:\A320FMGS because I am able to launch the starter and the configurator.

Am I supposed to run the installer as Administrator?

Running the installer as Administrator didn’t install anything in the add-ons folder either, and as best I can tell from the text displayed rather quickly during the install, it didn’t try.

Oh well, I have nothing else to try, so I guess it’s back to FSLabs I go…

Did you select P3D master PC with the correct p3d version at installation?

After a little more investigation, the installer isn't compatible with the use of Microsoft OneDrive. The jeehell add-on directory is installed in

C:\Users\keith\Documents\Prepar3D v6 Add-ons\jeehell

rather than

C:\Users\keith\OneDrive\Documents\Prepar3D v6 Add-ons\jeehell

as it would need to be. I copied it over to the proper directory and it appears it should all work now, as P3D recognized the add-on.

The first directory shown above is not normally seen by an end user when OneDrive is installed, so this issue isn’t so obvious as it might seem. I do not know why Microsoft does what it does…
