P3D v5.4 and Weather Radar

hi all,

I need your help.
My weather radar isn't working anymore.
I use ASP3D with the P3Dv5.4.
Active Sky is not installed on the P3D PC, so I installed the tool ASP3DV5ConnectorInstall. This replaces the earlier Simconnect.
The WXR folder is released on the P3D PC and also has read and write rights. Active Sky Weather is also available in P3D.
But the WXR folder remains empty.
I've also tried the old version via Simconnect, but that doesn't help either.
It's actually not that difficult to set it up, but I think I'm doing something wrong.

Hi Stephan,

no I have not set that. I am also of the opinion that it is not necessary. Since Active Sky is installed on a separate computer with TopCat and I need the data from this folder for TopCat, I didn't do this before when it still worked.

So, I checked and I have a WXR subfolder in the A320FMGS folder on the main computer where there are several WXRxx.dat files (probably created by the ASP3D or by the FMGS which takes this from the current_wx_snapshot.txt - do you update these too?). This folder is shared and available on the network.
On the PC where the ND is displayed, I defined this path under Configure.exe.
Also have P3D V5.4 and this works fine

Also, habe nachgeschaut und ich habe auf dem Hauptrechner im Ordner A320FMGS einen Unterordner WXR wo mehrere WXRxx.dat Dateien vorhanden sind (wahrscheinlich vom ASP3D erstellt oder vom FMGS der dies aus dem current_wx_snapshot.txt nimmt - werden diese bei Dir auch aktualisert?). Dieser Ordner ist im Netzwerk freigegeben und verfügbar.
Auf dem PC, wo das ND angezeigt wird, habe ich unter Configure.exe diesen Pfad definiert.
Habe auch P3D V5.4 und dies funktioniert einwandfrei

the installation is as follows:

1 computer "FMGS server"
1 computer "P3D"
1 computer "PFD/ND"
1 "Active Sky" computer
The WXR folder is released on the P3D computer and has read and write rights.
The folder for the P3D WXR folder is shared to the PFD/ND computer.
Simpatcher runs on the P3D computer.
ActiveSky was connected to the P3D as a network installation using the tool mentioned above and the weather is also arriving in the P3D.
The current_wx_snapshot.txt file does not exist on the P3D computer because Aktive Sky is installed on another computer.

I just tried to save the current_wx_snapshot.txt file in the WXR folder, that doesn't change anything.
I also believe that it was not in this folder before.

I've read the manual 3 times and the setup seems to be correct.

If not, Jean Luc can correct me. Above all, I would like to know how exactly FMGS reads the data (from current_wx_snapshot.txt?) to write it into the WXR folder. I couldn't find that in the manual.

Hello all,

I have now completely checked my setup and cannot find any configuration error. After all, it worked before.
I just have no idea anymore where to look for errors.
I have no other problems at all, everything works as it should. Even the ground radar works.
I can't say exactly when it stopped working. Probably it is related to an update to a newer Jeehell version.

I was always under the assumption that the WXR*.DAT files are created by the simpatcher. Is that correct?
The snapshot file from Active Sky has nothing to do with it, right?

Snapshot file is not used. The simpatcher gets the radar data outside of p3d (there are in process exchanges with active sky own DLLs).
I would make sure both simpatcher and active sky work correctly.

Hi all,

so after spending hours of checking my configuration I found the error.
I switched from P3Dv4 to P3Dv5 some time ago.
The asconnect_64.dll from Active Sky 4 was left over in the dll.xml. Thus the dll files for v4 and v5 were both loaded.

Of course I've changed that now and the weather radar is working again.
